Yo fellow bloggers, thank you for all the good reviews, reflecting how our hard work has finally paid off. Here are the awesome reviews from bloggers attending the event... High-Five.. (list rompak-ed from DIY Queen)
Muaz: KB Happened****
Ucingitam: Not a Ghost Town ***
Zamri Zainal: KB Bloggers Nite **
Iskandar: 1st KB Bloggers Nite ***
Safarul: KB BLoggers Night **
Qamaruz: Live on**
Bling-Bling-Sisters: KB Bloggers Night **
Bulimic : KB-licious Part 1 ****
Bulimic : KB-licious Part 2 ****
Kurapak : KB Bloggers Night ***** (This has to be the most hilarious post.. Kambing emcee demam.. hehe Almost finish a box of tissue wiping tears from laughing too hard.. And yes, Kg Jabang is our pride)

First of all let me just say a big smack thank you to Shaikh Khalid for generously sponsoring.. well, almost everything for the event, ranging from the venue, to the food, prizes, the live modern gambus and allocating budget for an emcee who never showed up.hehee The committee members left the issue of food and selection of menus solely on him, well cuz mainly that is his area of expertise. Well look at the creative turnout.. a pasta corner, a roast lamb station, coffee and tea booth, shrimps, crabs, shells.. I’m sure everyone appreciated that Shaikh Khalid paid extra detail to the food area and this played a major role towards the success of the event. I can almost hear everyone’s stomach upstaging the gambus drum rolls at the tempting sight of the food presentation hehee *Standing ovation to you*… Thank you to you too for playing emcee at the beginning of the event.. it turns out smoothly after that. So fellow bloggers, please VOTE for Arab Families too okay. His dedication and major contribution to unite all bloggers is worth noting. So send in your nominations now by e-mailing dstmm.content@simpur.net.bn.

Shamelessly in the afternoon..

Nonnie went straight to Seri Kandi from school on Sat lunch time and I helped by sticking safety pins to the name tags.. You see, even little things require effort... so say thank you to our DIY Queen.. hehe

A special credit also to Nonnie for her full-throttle efforts in technical aspects such as designing the invitation, programme, creating the name tags as well as coming up with the social interactive game. Can’t get over how disturbing Affy’s descriptions were and how I pronounced Qamaruz blogsite address wrongly.. gosh, how can he named it 'I am Gorgeous' *doink* .. heheee That was the joke of the event it seems.. hehe Well Queen DIY, now you know how unproductive I am when it comes to domestic jobs… although I am a mother of three. Nonnie is a far more suited mother than I am, in my opinion, hehe.. Honest!

Me and Queen DIY were super impressed with what Shaikh Khalid had come up in terms of food presentation, that we decided to have fun with it first.. :P Beware, picture stolen again..

The occasional meetings and non-stop e-mails on ideas and suggestions from Senor Pablo has also added to the success of the event… oh yeah, the cupcakes from Bunny Pablo to top it all up!..hehe Never cross my mind that cupcakes could turn into a special work of art.. ! Love it. And obviously my good-friend Zamri for the relentless help, just slow down Buddy hehee..

Picture rompak-ed again from Anak Brunei

Nonnie seem to be very proud of this picture.. call it our Vidal Sasoon moment... hehe

Also worth noting are Hi-Wetszone and WestEgrets for making sure that everyone don’t leave empty-handed by sponsoring goodie bags filled with pens, notebook, mobile phone strap, bookmark and a $1 free trial Hi-Wetszone International roaming services as well as two sets of $20 roaming cards for the luckydraws. Not forgetting Marul for being a sport by turning up and safely transporting three Simpur goodie bags with all DST Simpur merchandise which includes pen drives (the attractive one.. )

Well I am sure most of you walked away with those prizes which also include electronic goods and giveaways.. How fun is that?? And as far as I am concern, ‘Hey Larry’ has been quite infectious lately.. :P

My bro with his buddy-Badi at the gathering... Still persuading my bro to blog..

Thank u to all bloggers for making it one of the most memorable events.. I think this has been the best one I’ve attended in a span of five years.. *true*.. .(I’ve attended many where I have to be on my best behaviour, but I just went crazy that evening.. :P). I was also all nerves when delivering the speech… well just not use to being on the spotlight. But I aim not to bore you guys to death with a lengthy speech, so thank you all for paying at least a shred of attention to my humble remarks and thank you Muaz for appreciating what I am trying to convey.. :P

Excerpts from my speech include:

“Our objective for this gathering is to bring all local bloggers under one roof and bridge the gap in the fragmented space of blogging”

“As time evolves, let’s just hope blogging will not turn into another fad or just a medium for individuals to be on the spotlight. It is imperative that we blog for genuine reasons and most importantly to inspire the younger generations. So let’s remind ourselves to blog in good faith,”

Safarul and I-Am-Gorgeous Qamaruz with yours truly

Also sincere apologies to all for any inadequacies during the evening, forgot to mention that!

So we deserve a pat on our back for all the efforts we put in.. All the good reviews ignite plans to organize another bloggers meet.. with a slightly different twist maybe.. Insya-Allah. Hehe And I hope to work in the same circle and people again… Until then, KB ROCKS! Pounce! The Gambus sure got everyone moving and wiggling.

Motor Carny in KB

Just a peek into the Motor Carny scenes in KB this morning. It's taking place at the Municipal car parking area in KB town starting today till Sunday from 10 am - 9.30 pm.

It's practically a big 'thang' here in KB.. oh, of course after the KB Bloggers Night(oh, get over it) .. hehe

I arrived a bit too early while the participants were still setting up their booths. It's basically various car model exhibitions from big local motoring companies. You know the drill...

Impeccable timing for those wanting to buy a car. The new Toyota Corolla probably stole the show cuz it's mainly surrounded by people curious about the price, but my eyes are feast on something very expensive. :P Sigh, I could only afford to look.

Very interesting.. Ford is exhibiting one of its rally model vehicle and hehe.. we enjoyed pretending to be the rally driver.. you'll see there!

And if you head next door inside the Municipal building, you'll see rows of LCD tv display and other electronic items for sale, as part of the event.

Hey, I heard Arab Families are among the bazaar participants. Didn't get a chance to see him this morning but I'll probably be dropping by with Superman and the 'SuperLanes' later tonight, if not tomorrow .. :P

I was not given the schedules or whatsoever, but in the information provided to me, among the event highlights include bazaars, charity fund raising, paramotor show, helicopter display, go-kart racing competition, bike stunt show, car radio control competition, live band and singing competition among others..

So towners, enjoy the Carney ... TA!!!!

Okay, recommended viewing after eating... Gosh, I doubt Toyota would even wanna pay for this.. hehee

A colleague dreaming to be a rally driver..

Interesting Suzuki bikes for sale..

Still setting up their booths when I arrived...

Exhibitions inside the Municipal building... Same ol, same ol..

This car ROCKS...

Don't bother checking the price, cuz I know it's beyond our financial reach.. hehe $80 - $100 k ???

* Using the cute factor, he apologized.. You aren't buying his excuses, are you? I was asked... hehe Well, I'll digest it slowly...

Drama Ends.. Tune in to Kristal FM 2 pm tomorrow.. ..

To die-hard deejay duffy fans or perhaps friends who have been leaving crude messages on my tagboard, well I hope the drama ends now okay.

I just received a phone call from deejay duffy, relentlessly asking me to forgive him for his ‘foolish’ and ‘irresponsible act’. *forgiven*.. hehee At least you have the guts to call me, admitted to your mistakes and said sorry… so many-many-many times. You are lucky there are a lot of my 'gangs' out there who praised me for executing your job well hehee..

He justified his absence subtly.. well I’m not going to state it, cuz it’s all very-very personal. But a word of advice, don’t mix your personal affairs with business. Whatever it is, I wish you well and of course, we’ll stay friends... me okay brother. Let bygones be bygones.. I'm not dramatic one..huhuuuuu

We’ve actually met and talked on the phone several times and I must say he is a pleasant person with nothing but good intentions. So I’m going to let this slip.. hehe

To express how sorry he is (without any force or demand from my part.. hehee), Deejay Duffy will apologize live on air tomorrow to all the bloggers for his failure to attend and host the show. So in the event he goes on air tomorrow, listen to his show at 2 pm okay..
‘I don’t have a blog, so I don’t know how to convey how sorry I am. So I hope I could do it through the airwaves, “ that was his exact words.

He goes to that extent to redeem his wrongdoing… now that’s sweet and responsible. Hehe
Regardless of that, can't resist putting more pictures of last night's event. Pictures I rompak at Ucing-Itam's site.. hehe I'm not over it yet ... :P That's how much fun I had..
Too bad notable KB bloggers like Jan Shim, Kantalensa and Jewelle are unable to attend cuz of other commitments... Oh well, there's always next time..

Protect and Serve...

By now, you know the dim-witted robbers are apprehended. Well the robbery story didn’t interest me per se; it’s the hard work of the forest rangers that caught my attention.

About 100 police personnel’s and forest rangers were deployed surrounding Sungai Teraban area and Sungai Tujoh border since early yesterday morning in search of a runaway; believe to be suspect behind both armed robberies reported in Borneo Bulletin today and yesterday.

I was driving around Sungai Terban area with a colleague this morning to get inside scoop of the hunt and the appearance of forest rangers from the toll area leading to the village are very prominent and passers-by are bound to know that something is going on. A job well done to the sniffing dogs too.. :P

As I stopped my car like in the middle of nowhere at the first glance of few police rangers, I queried the status of the search. I think we both just have the ‘Nancy Drew’ label stamped on our forehead that CID personnel’s feel the need to stop their vehicle. I guess we have that presence. Thanks.. I feel very secure. Hehee

So we took advantage to acquire more info. In the midst of that, I saw a police truck handing out sandwiches to the police rangers and personnel’s who worked their ass off to guard the area. I am touched at that juncture.

After the interview I spoke to the two forest rangers; who were chomping down on their sandwiches un-gentlemanly (kesian). According to them they have been on the same spot for ten hours since 7 pm yesterday basically eating, standing, resting, catching naps… doing the number 1 or 2 (hehehee.. I think so)… abiding orders from their superiors.

The police rangers are very young; just completed their training course, I was told. Poor thing ghat they are subjected to this task, must be dreadful. So guys show appreciation to these people who go out of their way to ‘protect’ and ‘serve’ the country

The young and devoted forest rangers...

All In a Week's Work

For the past few days, I'm suffering what you call the 'writer's block'.. I guess I'm just distracted, uninspired, bored or exhausted with trying to please others. Having said that, it's odd that my hard works are finally bearing fruit, well occasionally it does, but it's rather consistent now. It's a Sign... Call me superstituous, but I like to believe so :P

Reader's Digest brings you 'All in a Days Work'. In these post, I bring you 'All in a Week Work'.. hehe Sometimes, I amuse myself... hehe Hey, I got to please myself one way or another! hehee A compilation of what I learn last week!

I LEARN.. from Dato Dr Hasan that youths in Brunei are more knowledgable as oppose to youths in Malaysia. With experience conducting motivational programmes in Brunei, apparently teens in Brunei are easily out of focus too.. hmm.. a courteous way to say that teens here are spoiled brats. And oh yah, we parent's are short of showing affections to our children.. a reason why they will rebel without a cause!..

I LEARN from Cuboi that the art of drawing cartoons bear similarities with structures of writing. Glad to interview you bro.. it didn't occur to me that you will be getting that kind of attention! hehe Sorry, didn't see it coming. Keep on doodling...

I LEARN... that an offender can only receive a maximum of 24 whippings. And yes.. a reason for us ladies to be happy.. well, women criminals in Brunei are spared from the rattan, although this should not be an excuse for us to commit crime. Zul from the Prison department said KL is proud of their Twin Towers, well we Bruneians are proud of our stroking methods... I must say I develop fascination for it *Ahem* hehee The 'butt' pictures of criminals after they are spanked.. i mean whipped.. (spank sounds too 'kinky' hehee) featured during the exhibition in OGDC was a crowd puller.. hehe I wander why..
P.S : I am excited! Nonnie, thank you for the endless assistance. You are a gem and a saviour. To Bin Khalid, you have kickstart something challenging but a beginning to something electrifying in KB.. Kudos!. And to Pablo.. thank you for the ideas and can't wait to taste one of Bunny Pablo's cupcakes.. :P CU all... Can't wait to see the outcome of the marquee event. It's just nerve-wrecking!
To all, Please RSVP immediately... Thank you.

Cigarette is bad.. Meat is bad.. Entertainment is bad..

Friends gave me load of crap for my published article today. Whatever guys.. Cigarettes are sheer evil and on top of that my stories hit the front covers for three consecutive days? In case you didn’t notice hehe :P

So here’s the deal, before you go stocking up cigarettes following prediction of the price hike, let me just say that it’s not going to happen any sooner. The whole process of increasing the tobacco duties in line with proposals from the Ministry of Health will involve various parties. Not pressing the panic button otherwise, I’m not saying it’s not going to materialize..hehe

The smoking ban will definitely abolish the coffee shop culture in Brunei,. I do have the hunch that the ban will not be taken seriously; cuz the whole enforcement process of the Tobacco order are not properly structured. Having said that, me and a colleague strolled around Indian eateries and coffee shops in KB town yesterday morning and it appears that almost all have removed display cabinets bearing cigarette brand advertisement, fully aware that they are ban from selling fags.

At the risk of sounding narcissistic, well anything to protect the younger generations from facing a bleak future is supposedly good right? Anyhoo, I also believe in striking a balance cuz depriving one act could lead to another negative act. Agree?

While scouting for cigarette display shelves to provide better illustration of our punching story, me and colleague had a breakfast at one of the Indian eatery in town. There my colleague unleashed her 'steam' when a BBQ plan to hail the New Year on Dec 31st was halted, after the Halal and Haram Unit confiscated over five kilograms of chicken wings and gizzards she bought from Miri.

So apparently there was a truck load of frozen meat and chicken (deemed dubious and non-halal as soon as it entered the Brunei border) seized by the unit in a joint operation with customs on Dec 28.

If you are a KB-ian you would certainly know that carrying few kilograms of frozen chicken or meat would normally go unnoticed by custom officers if it’s for personal consumption. But that still constitutes smuggling cuz importation of such items are prohibited.

Then again, according to my colleague the Halal and Haram Unit went to the extent of confiscating an elderly’s chicken wings weighing nearly two kilograms.. (yeah, the raiding parties bought weighing scale too.. how quaint). They seem to be taking their job very seriously until a nasty squabble between my colleague and one of the officers ended the whole operation. Hehee

What annoys the colleague and myself too (her fury is infectious) is that they are enforcing their authority for something insignificant and uhh ‘silly’. Shouldn’t they exercise extra power on heavy-duty crimes such as drug, human or weaponry smuggling? Well, that’s just our ‘coffee talk’

And what is it we heard about having to apply a permit to hold a gathering with elements of ‘entertainment’ in Brunei. Huh?? SERIOUSLY, you are going to drive us all bonkers! This could be part of the reason why the number of mental patients in Brunei has rises, according to us.. :P

These is expected to be history. I wish I own a camera when Brunei were displaying selection of beers and liquors inside their fridge when the alcohol ban has not been enforce.. I have vivid memories of that during school..

Really?? Sure, we thank you too! hehee

Spicing up the spaghetti dishes in Fratini's

Fratini's make it interesting by dressing their traditional spaghetti dishes with lamb chops, sea bass fillet, chicken breast and tiger prawns. Ohh... definetely the yummiest spaghetti I've tasted, the best Italian experience you'll ever get here with price starting at $20.50 per dish. Ouch.. :P On top of reviving its Spaghetti classic dishes with extra 'zest', Jojo has come up with interesting mocktails bearing names of landmarks in Belait district. Panaga Sunrise, Jubilee Twist, Belait Soother and Hornbill Fizz to name a few.. I personally recommend Panaga Sunrise. Manager of Belait Fratini's outlet and a dear friend of mine, Jojo takes pride of his creative mocktail invention and to no surprise.. SLAM DUNK! Check out Fratini's promo to mark their 12 th anniversary. Delectable... like always!

This dish is slightly adjusted. Instead of baked tiger praws, hubby and James requested for lamb chops on top of the Spaghetti served with creamy mushroom sauce..

Always stick to the menu guys.. Spicy Spaghetti with grilled lamb chop..

James slurping the 'Slimmer's Passion' .. a yoghurt drink with a blend of Tobasco.. WOW!

Getting twisted with Jubilee Twist, Peach Tea juice with watermelon...

Jojo takes pride of his creative menus.. :P

Itadakimasu...

Me and Shaikh Khalid divulged how bored to death we are that we should ignite something appropriate hehe before KB turns into a dead zone.. I am not in liberty to reveal this, but something is in progress this month.. hehee sorry, but my lips are sealed.

Speaking of dead, the district finally woke up today! KB-ians finally crawled out of their cribs, well at least 500 of em.. and joined an early Hijrah walkathon this morning to raise funds for charity. An event at last! .. For the past nine days, it was a nightmare desperately seeking for decent tidings. Such despair that a large pothole (which normally goes uncovered) and a vessel sitting innocently on the banks of Belait river became my 'unusual' target of a story.

The walkathon this morning raised over $800, but our fellow blogger generously topped up additional cash and even it out to a figure of more than $1k. How noble of you Shaikh Khalid.. although we know you took short-cuts during the walkathon.. hehee

Late afternoon today, I dragged hubby to the opening of a Japanese restaurant called 'Kaizen Sushi' in Seria where we had a sushi affair. Thank GOD.. no need for a genius to figure this one out, but seriously Seria is in dire need of proper business establishments or risk becoming dispensable next to Sungai Liang. Apart from CA Mohamad, WYWY, Seri Selera Seria food complex (urrgghhh...) well to name a few, there seem to be no option for quality dining in Seria. All the good restaurants are centered in KB. So yeah, thank Mr Charles Lei a resident in Seria (to no surprise) who feel the need to create some hoopla in town by fulfilling the occasional hankering for Japanese cuisine.

The concept is basically similar to Excapade Sushi in KB. Expect a long model train dragging the sushi's around the railway track. *pening kitani makan*...

I’m not going to compose a lengthy preview so I’ll just summarize it as follows :

Price – Value for money. Sushi’s priced at $1.80, $2.70, $3.60 … Not sure about the bento sets, teppanyaki and sashimi cuz the menu hasn't finalize yesterday.

Food quality – Larger portion and seemingly fresh. Loved the salmon and the wasabi gradually kicked in. Authentic. But don’t take my word for it, cuz I’ve only tasted the sushi. Over 300 menus available.

Ambiance – Upscale, cozy and strives to provide you with the Japanese ‘feel’, particularly with the presence of two private ‘Tatami’ rooms, where you can dine Japanese style. Just in case you are wandering where the restaurant is located in view that it didn’t make itself apparent, well its tucked on the first floor of the same building accommodating the Millimewah department store.

There you go.. Short, sweet and simple preview. *case malas* Anything I missed out, feel free to drop your comments. So, .. Itadakimasu!

The entrance of Kaizen Sushi in Seria..

One of the Tatami rooms...

A modal train dragging the sushi's....

The Salmon is so delectable... Yummy!! That settled our dinner today...

P .S - Btw, am I seriously 'clueless' or you just being 'condescending'?

A new beginning...

A day overdue post.. Many Happy Returns on Jan 9, ye Mommy! I’ll incorporate it with a New Year greeting to all Muslims ushering the beginning of the Islamic calender today, a short of ten days after 2008. So, an impeccable excuse for us to remain jolly.

Considering how vain you are for a mother who gracefully turns 49 (believe me, you are still marketable ma.. honest hehe) I could not locate voguish pictures of you in my laptop to be exhibited here. Being sluggish at the moment, trying to dig pictures of her within the stack of burned CD’s seems effortful.

Instead, I post impressive pictures snapped by her during our stay in Empire Hotel last weekend where she volunteered to be behind our pivotal Kodak moments (realistically me), while for once…. (if any), I had FUN and joined the gang for a three hour dip in the pool and went Kayaking. And yes.. I suffer a major case of skin discoloration.. Undesirable one!. :P

Well for a five minute crash course; look at what dearest mummy snapped (below). Hubby insinuated her fluke shots could have easily surpassed mine.. Ouch! Being extremely proficient in cooking (not overstating), she seem to have hidden talents in photography. A shame that we do not inherit your culinary skills, so sure.. flaunt it all! None of the snapped pictures seems unworthy, ohhh.. when are you going to stop making us look bad!

Still… Happy Birthday! Your gift is on the way hehe *evil laugh* Kaching$$$$$

Me and bro.. about to go kayaking

For the record, I slept nearly 2 am and got up at 7 am. The lack of sleep explain the puffy eyes.. I am officially a SCRABBLE junkie. Thanks sis...

Kayaking is another sport which I don't mind indulging .. if I have the time and resources. Daniel surrendered halfway through the journey, while I paddled throughout. Went for a second trip with hubby.. see how I develop fascination for it!

Mummy said this precious little thang dug the sand with her bare hands and handed it over to her. How cute!

It's been a long time since we took them swimming..

My dramatic bundles conked out by 8 pm... Thank God.

Happy Birthday Amanda..

The other 'girl' in our life is officially three today... We had an early celebration last weekend at the Empire Hotel and Country Club, where I finally utilized my free stay at the Executive Suite. Amanda, sorry for thinking you are still two which explained the two candles on the cake. Well for a start mummy has too many dates to remember and second, mummy might be suffering the 'denial' syndrome in view that she will turn 'thirty' this Oct.. Arrgghhh!!...

Updates : Scenes from our family retreat last weekend..

Amanda needed help from her bro to blow the candles..

Having high tea at the E-Club room.. Interesting..

Monkey business at the jacuzzi of our suite...

My greatest vice.. pleasurable combination!

Me and the eldest heading to the E-Club room, located far-far away.. :P

View from the balcony..

Koko having breakfast at Atrium Cafe..

Look what jie-jie got for her birthday.. a bling-bling from Popo. Now Mummy has to reciprocate.. Die lar!

No wave of great floods whirls me to the sea...

“What need the bridge much broader than the flood?” says William Shakespeare.

Belait is at a standstill beginning of the year (everytime), except for the usual traffic congestion in the morning and of course the persistent downpour.

So those living in flood prone areas, exercise extra caution!

I was soaking wet yesterday evening after snapping photos of areas worst hit by the flashfloods. So drivers, try not to get your vehicle submerged in the flood waters.

My Dramatic First day jitters

I recalled vividly how melodramatic I was on my first day of school .. and thank god my two children didn’t follow suit. (I have a strong hunch that my histrionic behaviour will rub on my youngest son.. due to start school next year) Being a mother, I seriously felt sorry for my parents who had to deal with with my past erratic behaviour as I experienced my first day jitters. I remembered it involved clinging desperately to my parent's leg; screaming at the top of my lungs and pleading for them to stay as I panicked at the moment of separation. It was extreme I was told and persists for about a week. I recalled how I planned the list of excuses from home just to get out of school and it never works! So I painfully screamed at the entrance of the class as the last ploy but it failed too, since my kindergarten teacher is crafty to pacify me with colourful toys and objects.. and that works EVERYTIME hehe how I’m so naïve! Anyhoo, I’m astonished with my clear memories of the past.. it’s like a diary that I carry about with me!! Sigh..

My daughter Nashwa Amanda's first day of the rest of her educational lives yesterday morning .. She looks contented inside the classroom, as if its a new-found freedom for her .. hehe So glad she is not dramatic like me.
